Pros:

  • Reliable
  • Reads and clears trouble codes
  • Turns off the annoying check engine light
  • Easy to use
  • Handy snap on the back of the unit
  • Fixes a range of problems

Cons:

  • Car specific
  • Not really needed for most cars
  • Length of time to complete one read might be a little deceiving

Well, this is the scanner that I have been using for more than a year. It is very simple to use and very easy to learn it. I found all the codes that I needed from it, and they are all cleared without any hassle. With this tool, you can check and clear trouble codes from a wide range of car models and manufacturers. From what I have used it on, it is most brilliant in Toyota and Hyundai vehicles.

It comes with a wire which is apparently OEM, so I can’t really judge how original it is. This device has dimensions 5.9 x 4.4 x 1.3 inches and with this small size, it fits very easily in my car's glove box.

I am using this tool on my VW, and I’m very happy with it. No complains so far. I have not really used it to the limit, but it seems to work as intended.

It’s been a year since I bought this and I have to say I’m never going back to the old ways of scanning what issues I have. BlueDriver is a great tool for doing self-diagnostics, and I feel more confident when thinking about driving.

This scanner is an all-in-one scanner with the best features of your smartphone and mobile OBD2 scanner. The free app is available for both Android and iPhones. The app is easy to use and very reliable when it comes to checking the various automotive issues that show up while driving.

The wireless communication between the BlueDriver and BlueDriver Pro is great as I never have to worry about the wires getting tangled in my car. I have a habit of throwing my stuff in my car and leaving it in random places. That’s the worst thing you can do with wires or earbuds, but this wireless model just glides between my seats without any wires getting tangled. They include free app updates with the subscription contract as well.

7. LAUNCH Creader 6001 OBD2 Scanner Car Code Reader Full OBDII/EOBD Scan Diagnostic Tool

Our rating: 7 / 10

LAUNCH Creader 6001 OBD2 Scanner Car Code Reader Full OBDII/EOBD Scan Diagnostic Tool

Pros:

  • Easy to connect
  • No reading errors
  • Straightforward interface
  • Price
  • Easy to read
  • Very informative

Cons:

  • Comparatively short wires
  • Inconsistent updates
  • Needs proprietary cable to update

Our pick for the best OBD2 scanner is this simple and user-friendly model from Launch. This model picks up on issues that need to be addressed in a vehicle using the on-board diagnostics protocol, reading and flashing the code in question for quick troubleshooting. The 6001 also provides a readout of a particular component’s status, giving a basic overview of available components and their corresponding results.

The 6001 has a clear and easy to use interface, and it’s easy to update, provided you buy the proprietary cable. There aren’t many complaints about this model, though customer support after the sale and the product’s high price tag are two big problems. The 6001 is a great low-budget option for someone looking for an OBD2 scanner.
